Was it ever more than 1x? I thought it was more than that... I must be tripping.
I believe there are a couple of 06 servers out there that offer more than x1 so you may have them confused. As much as the grind is slow here I always end up feeling like I'm eating too much saturated rich food or something if I play on xp boosting servers and I get a bad taste in my mouth. So I always love it here.
