I am playing on a mac and i just learnt that they got rid of the desktop client so now it won't start up, it only stays at requesting title loading bar.

Welcome. The game should work for OS X no problem. Hmm, there seems to be a compatability issue with OS X and RuneScape / RSPS in general. People reported spinning screens and weird glitches. The downloadable client should work though. Here's a link to the thread that has one if you need it:
