maybe it was 5 and you got the exp for 5 but the glitch was that it displayed 6 in the damage area

It's probably coded so every time it heals it gives +1 but if its higher than your max then it quickly goes back down. What happened here is that he probably hit the timing when he is 6/5 hp before it adjusts it.
