Skills
Combat Styles ( Attack, Strength, Defence, Range, Magic, Hitpoints) Your combat level is made up by Attack, Strength, Defence, Range, Magic, Hitpoints and Prayer. These can be trained as soon as you log in by attacking NPC's (non playable character) such as goblins or cows. Once your combat level rises, you will be able to train on higher level NPC's and once your prepaired, you can go to bosses, but more on that later. To start Melee training, you need a weapon (recommended) and you need to pick the style of combat you would like to train. Each style of combat helps you in different ways, such as by training Attack, you are able to weild better weapons, and you will hit more accuratly. By training Strength you will hit higher and be able to weild different sort of special weapons. By defence, you are able to wear better armour and you will get hit less often. Range and Magic are trained with resorces. This means they cost to train, were as with melee you can train with the same weapon for as long as you want, and still have that weapon when you are finished. Range To train range, you need to start with a bow and Iron or Bronze arrows. Or knifes or Darts. A bow can be brought in Varrock ( shown on map below ) or use the ones in your starter. Darts/Knifes have to be made by the skill Smithing and Fletching. Arrows can be made this way too, or you can buy them from shops shown below. You can safe spot NPC's with range by hiding behind something, so that cant attack you. This can be used as a great advantage when you are low on food, or have a low defence. Magic To train magic, you need to use runes and a staff (recommended). Staffs can be brought below, and so can runes. The type of staff allowed you to have unlimited runes in that type, for example a staff of air gives you unlimited air runes. Staffs also allow you to auto cast. Magic is a great skill as it hits high, depending on the type of attack you use. By training it you are able to use different types of spells. These can all be found on your spell book. You can also teleport to places, to save you walking. This normally requires Law runes and one or more of basic rune types ( Air, Water, Fire, Earth ) Prayer Prayer is a very simple, but expensive combat style. It it trained by burying bones. Bones are droped by most NPC's. You can get different type of bones such as Bones,Wolf Bones, Bat Bones, Monkey Bones, Burnt Bones, Big Bones, Dragon Bones, Daganothh Bones. Each type of bone gives you a different amount of experience. Bosses Once you have the right equipment and gear, you can kill some of the Rune2006 Bosses, such as Chaos Elemental, King black Dragon, Daganothh kings or Kalphite queen. Many more can be found, and also high lvl NPC's. Skilling Skills are non combat Levels. These can be trained for fun or to make money. A lot of skills are needed to be trained ingame, so players can train combat. For example you cannot train without food, so that requires people to Fish and Cook. Fishing and cooking Fishing and cooking are 2 simple skills, but very useful skills. They can be started in draynor (shown map above) and then you canmove on to different spots for different types of fish. They can be cooked on either fires or ranges. You first start catching Shrimp by using a small fishing net on a netable spot ( shown above ). These can be collected either in your starter, or in the fishing shop in Port Sarim ( or many other places, Port Sarim shown above ). Once you have your raw fish, you can cook them. The higher your Cooking level is, the less chance you have in burning your food, but the better the type of food, the more chance you have in burning it. Cooked food can be used to heal your self, or sold to others for GP. Fletching, Woodcutting and Firemaking These 3 skills can be useful to you. Woodcutting is required to train the other 2 skills. You can start Woodcutting by buying an Axe from Bob, or by using a Bronze one in your starter. You need to chop normal trees till you hit level 15 Woodcutting for Oak Trees. Then keep cutting till you hit level 30 for Willows and so on. The higher your Woodcutting level, the faster you chop trees down, depending on the type of tree as well. Firemaking can be trained by using a tinderbox on normal Logs. Tinderbox's can be brought in general stores (shown in map above) or in your starter. This is mostly, a useless skill inless you are training it for a 99, or just for your total level. You can burn other types of logs at a higher Firemaking Level. Fletching can be trained by using a knife on Normal logs. You can collect a knife from Varrock General Store ( Shown in map above ). This skill can be used to make bows, arrows, or darts. This skill can be very useful for rangers, as you can make your own equipment to train range. Whilst Woodcutting, you can come across a Bird's Nest what can carry Rings or Seed's used for Farming. Farming and Herblore Farming can be used for herblore, or to grow trees. You can train farming by collecting seeds from stalls, NPC's or Bird's Nests. These can then be planted in various Farming patches all over runescape. The most popular Farming spot is Catherby, behind the bank. There you have quick access to a bank and a farming spot. You can plant Herb seeds here, So you receive a lot of Unidentifed herbs to train Herblore Herblore can be used to make potions. These potions allow you to hit more, or restore stats. At level 60 you can also make weapon poision to poision your weapons. To train herblore, you first need to clean Guams (unidentifed herb) till level 3. You then need to get a vial of water ( brought from shops all around runescape) and a herblore ingredient. The ingredient for a Guam is an Eye of Newt, what can be brought in Port Sarim's Mage shop. You then use the herb on the vial of water, and then the ingredient on the herb in water. A guam and Eye of newt gives you an attack potion (3) and a lot of experience. You can then train your Herblore level higher, to make better potions. Thieving Thieving can be trained by pickpocketing men when you first start. Men can be found all over the runescape world. You then can move on to steeling from stalls, or higher NPC's. You can thieve all different kind of items from 3gp or a Cake to an Uncut Diamond or Water Orb. Mining and SmithingMining and Smithing are used to make Weapons Or armour. You can start by Mining Tin and Copper ore, and then Smithing them on a Ferance. You need a Pickaxe to mine ore, and Ferances can be found all over runescape, some are shown on the map above. You then receive a bronze bar. This can be smithed into an dagger, hatchet, helm or many other items. This can be done by using the bar on a Anvil. Most people use the Anvil just outside Varrock West bank ( Shown Above ). You can then move on to Smithing and Mining different types of ores to make different type of bars. You can also mine Gold and Silver what can be used for Crafting Crafting Crafting is a very useful skill what can be used for a big profit. You can start this by turning cowhide into leather at a tan trader. He charges you a small amount of GP for this service. You can then buy Thread and Neadles from a Crafting shop. these is one in Al-kharid Desert, near a Tan Trader too. You can make different types of armour and once your a high enough level, you can make dragonhide armour or jewelly, what can be enchanted by magic. To make jewelly such as a sapphire ring, you need 1 Gold Bar, 1 Cut Sapphire and a ring mould. Use the gold bar on the ferance and a screen will pop up. Click the pitcure of the sapphire ring. Gems can be found all over the game, either by killing NPC's or by buying them off players. Runecrafting Runecrafting is a skill were you create runes. To do this you need either an Talisman of the rune you want to make, or a Tiara. You also need Rune or Pure Essence. The Talismans can be collected by killing NPC's or by buying off players. You can make Tiara's in the skill of Crafting by using a Silver Bar on a Ferance. Make sure you have a Tiara mould on you. Then take the Silver Tiara ( with a Talisman ) to the Rune enterance you want to make the Taira type of. Rune enterances can be found all over runescape, ask people ingame for locations of the type you want, as there are too many to type. Rune essence can be brought from players, or be mined your self in the rune essence mine. Once you hit a certain level, you will be unable to Mine Rune Essence and will always Mine Pure Essence from then onwords. Slayer Slayer is a skill what can be trained by talking to a slayer master. They can be found all over runescape. The most used one is Vanaka, Found in Edgeville Dungeon. He requires you to have 40 combat to get a slayer task off him. Slayer tasks are an amount of a NPC you have to kill. These can range from 10 Goblins to 200 Black Dragons. Tasks are random, and if you just use Vanaka, you can reset your tasks till you find one that suits you. Slayer allowed you to weild/wear better weapons/armour and allows you to kill NPC's what drop rare drops. For example, at 85 Slayer you can kill an Abysall Demon, what drops an Abysall Whip. These are very useful for combat training, and are worth a lot. Agility Agilty at the moment, can not be trained and therefor, the only way to level it is by XP lamps, given to you by a Genie random event. It's the fear that brought me back.
