What tyhey do mind is the lack of them for some unexplainable reason. Most of the time they don't actually care about the updates themselves.
Because every update in essence never adds no more than 0.1% of content. I mean they may be a fun addition or a good bugfix, This content will never drastically affect your gameplay, thus why most people forget about the content pretty fast. The Duel Arena was a good example. To be honest as a one man team doing higher education I can't do a lot. On ProjectRS06 people played for months even though there wasn't a single update.

The thing is, the total amount of work I have done on this server is pretty big.
But, it wasn't spread out. I worked a lot on content before the release and did some big update packs. I could as well have spread the updates and release small updates every few days. But really, that means I'm holding content back. I'm excited about the created content and want to share it as quickly as possible. And for me doing such updates every few days with minor content really seems like a waste.

One thing I never do is take the full game away from you.
What I see most servers do is they work in so called stages. They do a big release with a lot of players. Then 2 months later they reset again. Then do the same over and over again (I'm refering to about any other server around). In the past few months have I ever reset anyone in any way. But really it seems people don't care about that. They rather seem to have their accounts reset and see some launch action, I myself am guilty of that too sometimes.

But think about this. Do updates every few days really enhance your gameplay?
Do you really actually care about the published content. Last time I did a big update pack it seemed there was a bitterly low amount of interest and people were already wanting more updates.

The reason OSRS died isn't the lack of content. People enjoyed so many hours from 2002-2007. Yet the game has not even been on for a year now and there is already too less content. It's just the community of RS in general. They are in no way faithful and quit over small unmeaningful things.

Would you stop playing a game like Minecraft if it had less updates?
For me the answer is no because I already have enough content to work with. And the updates just add small things. I'd rather have less subversion numbers and just have a big release from time to time. But that is just my opinion.

I've uttered it for the last time now I believe. I can't believe how many threads have already been made on this subject.

Now for the end of my rant:
I do actually enjoy updates. But they should at no time be seen like some addictive drug, but rather like a pleasant surprise from time to time.

Also the real reason in my opinion that people haven't joined with masses is both OSRS and the fact that the community is not already big when they join. If this had 150+ online people would stay even without updates; I'm pretty sure of that. If the whole community got together for 1 day and there was a massive comment flow on youtube about this I bet we could eventually reach it. When I used to do extreme commenting (10 hours straight of commenting, one of the most boring and painful tasks) I was actually able to get 150 players to join some days. If we all work together for a few hours with 30 or more people.
(Doing various things, preferably at the start of the month because this allows us to "influence" toplists as well) We might actually be able to get this really bigger. Once it becomes bigger veterans come back. But not updates alone, but a good community is very important to draw new and old players back in.

So I suggest that I email everyone. We will call it a "Supreme Launch Event". We gather around30-50 people in a chatbox (this should be possible) and go around advertising for several hours to make this game big. That way I see this game become big.

im guessing u havent read my email but for this server to get 150+ ppl online the staff needs to be active and needs to be a proper team.
Basically Get Help.
R.I.P HAL?

All I see in this post is modseeking...

Botting4days should be enough for such a small community, I don't see why there should be any more moderators...

You have not been here long enough to comment on such things. This server needs a team of 3 at the least that actually inform things. Plural instead of making announcements for updates, why not just do a changelog to see what things are happening. Trust me the community will love it.
