Although I would like to add the following:
if items will be spawned in the game, I would personally like them to be randomized. No fix spawn locations as they will become camped 24\7 by some players.
An idea is to make them randomly appear every (x) minutes in range of every player, but not specifically at the same time for everyone, this was the case in projectrs06, which I found a great idea. Though there were flaws like sometimes an item would spawn in a wall or other unaccessible spot.
I am not sure which amount of items should be introduced into the game. But I'd say quite alot to make sure everyone will get some and to keep the price down so new players who join later are able to afford them.
Also I would like the event to last for at least 5 days, so the chance everyone can get online during that time is bigger. Otherwise it might be the case some players would miss out if they couldn't be online the day of the event.

This is a great idea and I hope it will be applied if this does indeeed happen.
